Are Our Children Praised Too Much?

FROM TIMES.UK ONLINE (Helen Rumbelow): Authors of the new book NurtureShock discuss their parenting revelations after stumbling on Carol Dweck’s research work at Stanford U. Gives me some comfort regarding my brand of parenting. : ) But, taken with a grain of salt, itself — as it should be — it gives us a chance to stop and think (again) about the actual vs. anticipated effect that many of our teaching methods and social programs have on kids, both in and out of school. Will this be enough to finally get D.A.R.E. out of my kids’ curriculum and reinstate the full year art and computer programs that were halved to make room for it? I can dream.
