w00t! Skiff Reader features next generation e-paper!
The Skiff Reader
An E-Reader with Metal-Foil Touchscreen Display
I know there’s a lot of scuttle about Apple’s tablet, today — and I’ll be posting about that , too — but I’m pretty excited about the Skiff Reader. Definitely a w00t! find. It’s pushing the hardware closer to the Potteresque e-paper fold-up reader I hope to see in the future. And I see a great deal of potential for educational applications in this kind of device.
At 1/4″ thick, it offers a durable, flexible touchscreen that measures 11.5″ (diagonal) with a pixel resolution of 1600×1200 (UXGA). Currently, the display is black and white, which suits the newspaper and personal document content Skiff is touting, but I imagine color is a matter of time.
